1. What is the inspiration behind Women in Wheels?
Men were actually the inspiration for starting Women in Wheels. Whilst my Husband and his friends headed out on weekend driving trips across the EU or meet up for a morning coffee, I had a thought, why can't us women do the same?
That led me to research clubs that offer luxury events and trips for women who drive either a high performance or super car and there was not one club out there that offered what I was looking for or made me want to join. I wanted the same experiences as my Husband and his friends have – meeting likeminded women who just wanted to come together, have fun, eat delicious food and drive nice cars. That's how Women in Wheels was born!
2. What sparked your passion for cars, and how has your club helped you explore that passion?
When I was younger, I grew up with F1 fans with myself being a big fan of Nigel Mansel. My passion for cars has returned, and it's amplified by the supportive community of women I'm building. It's being able to form a network of great ladies who don't judge you but just want to get out there and just drive.
3. What's the future vision for Women in Wheels?
The vision for Women in Wheels is to create an inclusive and vibrant community where women are not only empowered to embrace their passion for luxury cars but also to become confident to do so.
I'm building a platform to connect, support and mentor women, showing them that's it's not just for men, us ladies can do it too. I want to challenge stereotypes and break the barriers and it's something that we can do together.
4. How does your club create a supportive and inclusive environment for women in the car world?
Creating a safe space is the first thing. Women face challenges in the car world all the time from the moment they leave their car to walking to the showroom. Women In Wheels are here to support and be there by hosting events that bring ladies together from various backgrounds allowing them to connect and share their experiences which leads to building friendships.
5. What are some of the most exciting projects or events your club has participated in?
Oh gosh, I think I would be biased, but all our upcoming events are, and will be, exciting. As we're fairly new club, I can say that I will be doing my best to provide unique and fun experiences each for the ladies in Women in Wheels.
We have a fantastic array of events coming up this year such as our Road to Sea event taking place in August. This is a drive through the downs with a lunch on a yacht whilst sailing the Isle of Wight for the afternoon. In September we are off for a long weekend to Reims, the heart of France's Champagne region! A journey filled with scenic drives and delicious food.
We'll also be at Salon Privé this year so we're very excited for that and we'll hopefully see a lot of you there!
6. If someone would like to join Women in Wheels, what would be the process for this?
They would need to join our exclusive membership which is available on our website here. There are a few questions to answer as there are only selected cars allowed to be part of Women in Wheels, but this can be either owning the car or if you have access to it.
7. What three cars would be in your dream garage?
Do I need to choose?? There are so many that I would pick that I keep changing my mind. But I do love a bit of off roading so I would definitely need a 4x4 that I can just annihilate on the roads. I would also have a Porsche GT3RS and OMG I can't decide! I'm spoilt for choice.
